Dovea Genetics' Breeding Week, kicking off next Monday, March 9th, and running through Friday, March 13th!

We've got a whole week packed with insightful webinars and fun competitions lined up!

Dovea Genetics Dairy Webinar 2026

Monday, 9th March, 8pm

Hear from Marty Hayes, our Dairy Programme Manager about our 2026 dairy sire range and his recommendations for each system.

Guest speakers will include:

- Kieran Cummins, Twomileborris, Tipperary.

Kieran is milking 150 cows and actively working alongside Dovea Genetics dairy team to improve his milk solids.

- Seamus O'Leary, Templederry, Tipperary.

Seamus milks 190 cows and aiming to increase to 250. Utilising Dovea's Sire Advice Programme, Seamus is improving his milk solids, fertility & health year on year while maintaining a robust, functional cow type.

Dovea Genetics Coloured Webinar 2026

Tuesday, 10th March, 8pm

Hear from Michelle Egan, our Coloured Dairy Specialist about our 2026 coloured sire range and her recommendations from each of the breeds.

Guest speakers will include:

- Dan Furey, Mitchelstown, Co. Cork.

Dan is milking 120 Norwegian Red & Holstein x cows on a spring calving, grass based system. Dan has been incorporating Norwegian Red genetics in his herd since they were first introduced to Ireland and seeing increased fertility & longevity with the breed.

- Diego Galli, Regional Manager EMEA for Geno Norwegian Red

- Eddie Courtney, Farm Manager on Harte Farms, Clones, Co. Monaghan.

Eddie currently milks pedigree Fleckvieh cows on a robotic, indoor system. The cows are achieving an average of over 10,000kgs milk with some cows even reaching 1,000kgs solids per lactation!

- Benedikt Pfister, GGI Spermex

- Dan Somers, Barnacleagh, Wicklow.

Dan is milking 230 Montbeliarde cows averaging 7,000 kgs milk with 560 kgs milk solids on a split calving system. Dan is achieving top prices for his beef calves while still achieving incredible production from his cows.

Wednesday, 11th March, 8pm

Hear from John Lynch, our Beef Programme Manager about our 2026 dairy beef sire range and his recommendations for each system.

Guest speakers will include:

- Eddie Courtney, Farm Manager, Harte's Farms, Clones, Co. Monaghan.

Eddie is maximising calf value by utilising Dovea Genetics' red & white and red gene carrier Belgian Blue sires on his Fleckvieh herd!

- Danny Kennedy, Coolgreany, Co. Wicklow.

Danny is optimising calving ease on his farm while ensuring quality with Dovea's Angus sire range.

- Ciara Ryan, Manager at Mid-Tipp Mart, Thurles, Tipperary.

Ciara will talk us through the calf trade at present & trends she sees in the market.

Dan is utilising Dovea's Belgian Blue sires on his Montbeliarde herd achieving exceptional prices for calves while ensuring calving ease.

Michelle will talk us through Noel Butler's system, finishing all of his Dovea Genetics sired cattle and actively increasing carcass weights through selective breeding year on year!

Dovea Genetics Export Weanling Suckler Webinar 2026

Thursday 12th March, 8pm

Hear from John Lynch, our Beef Programme Manager about our 2026 beef sire range and his recommendations for export weanling production.

Guest speakers will include:

- John O'Reilly, Dovea Genetics sales representative & part time suckler farmer in Ennis, county Clare.

John farms 40 Limousin suckler cows and uses terminal Belgian Blue & Limousin sires to achieve top prices for his weanlings in marts & for export.

- Martin & Aaron McGann, Bellharbour, Clare.

The McGanns are working with a herd of Limousin, Parthenaise & Belgian Blue x cows aiming to produce top-end Belgian Blue & Limousin weanlings for export, breeding and show markets. The McGanns achieved highs of €7,400 for heifer weanlings in Gort mart weanling show & sale in 2025!
