Dovea Genetics Dairy Beef Update

Dovea Genetics has updated their range of  dairy beef sires for the 2022 breeding season which mostly comprise of proven bulls and some new sires intended for the Dairy beef market.  Bulls of various breeds for this market are chosen on calving ease, gestation length, carcass and calf quality. We at Dovea Genetics pride ourselves on having sires that not only perform well in terms of calving ease and gestation but we always focus on bull/progeny quality in order to deliver the best quality animal possible from the mating which will benefit every stakeholder in the industry, from the dairy farmer, to the beef rearers and finishers and the beef processors.

One of Dovea’s best proven dairy beef sires available is the Angus Sire, Kealkil Prime Lad (AA4743). He is Dovea’s number one Angus bull in DBI (€116). His incredible calving ease makes him suitable for both heifers and cow and has a gestation of only 280 days. Along with this, calf quality and animal performance is also very good which makes him a unique bull that ticks all the boxes.

Another sire from the Kealkil herd is Kealkil Stockman (AA7188). Stockman was born at 272 days at a birthweight of 32 kgs with his dam calving consistently at 272 days for the past 3 years. The first of AA7188’s calves are easily born with a short gestation so we look forward to this data being added to his index soon.

Hawkley Red Zepplin (ZEP) is another proven Angus sire who is suitable for dairy heifers at only 5.2% calving difficulty and he is short gestation at 282 days. ZEP is noted for calf quality with his progeny have exception growth rates and grow into large framed cattle which are excellent for a finishing system.

Kilmacanann Philip (AA5217), a newly proven sire at Dovea who has an exceptionally short gestation at only 279 days! Easy calving on dairy cows he is an excellent choice for farmers who intend on selling progeny as calves.

The king of carcass weight and quality at Dovea is Keirsbeath Karma (AA4638). Karma who has an average calving difficulty on dairy cows will produce progeny that will develop into big, long powerful cattle that will have exceptional weight for age. He is the ideal choice to produce high value profitable finishing cattle or for farmers looking to sell exceptional quality Angus calves.
