A Successful Day for Dovea Genetics’ Progeny at Tullamore Show
Tullamore Show took place on Sunday the 14th of August with a crowd of over 60,000 people in attendance. With approximately 300 classes of cattle on display, Dovea Genetics sired animals were in abundance with great success throughout the day.
The Belgian Blue breed had a fantastic representation of Dovea Genetics progeny, with large numbers of exceptional cattle on display.
The Belgian Blue bull calf born after 1st of January 2022 was won by Myles McDermott with his Moderato de l’Empereur (BB6700) sired calf, who later went on to win reserve male champion. 1st to 3rd place in this class was made up solely of Dovea Genetics calves.
The Belgian Blue bull calf born after 1st of September 2021 was won by Joe Davis with his Mannequin de Sberchamps (S1215) bull. This calf later went on to win overall male champion and overall Belgian Blue champion.
The Belgian Blue Junior Bull class born after 1st of September 2020 was won by Katie & Aine Brady with their James Bond VD Jorchrishoeve (BB4396) sired bull.
The Belgian Blue heifer calf class born after 1st of January 2022 was won by James McNally with his Moderato de l‘Empereur (BB6700) heifer calf. She followed this by winning Belgian Blue female champion, and reserve overall Belgian Blue champion.
The Belgian Blue female class born after 1st of September 2021 was won by Billy Dunne with his James Bond VD Jorchrishoeve (BB4396) heifer.
The Belgian Blue breeding heifer class born after 1st of September 2020 was a clean sweep for Dovea Genetics, with 1st and 2nd prize being won by Imperial de l’Ecluse (S905) and Mannequin de Sberchamps (S1215) heifers owned by Tim O Donovan and Richard Stanley.
Dovea Genetics also claimed numerous titles in the commercial rings.
The Belgian Blue x male calf was won by Owen O’Neill with his Dartagnan Red (BB6942) sired calf.
The commercial suckler cow and calf championship had a strong Dovea Genetics contingent with an Imperial de l’Ecluse (S905) sired team in 1st for Burke Livestock and a Du Grand Bon Dieu (BB2247) pair in 2nd.
The best bullock with no permanent teeth, from the same herd was sired by Imperial de l’Ecluse (S905).
The best heifer with no permanent teeth was won by Shane Giltinane with his Hazard VD Pannemeers (BB2280) sired heifer. This heifer was later tapped out as the overall commercial senior champion.
The Charolais ring witnessed an impressive accumulation of rosettes by the Dreamteam herd for Kate Norris. Their Fury Action (S605) sired calves won the heifer calf class born between 16th of November 2021 and 31st of December 2021, the bull calf born in December 2021, the best pair of pedigree Charolais under 12 months and the reserve overall senior female calf champion.
In the Parthenaise ring, the bull/heifer class born after 1st of January 2022 saw 4 Gainsbarre (PT2165) calves take 1st through to 4th place for Ronan Carroll and Audrey Holohan.
The All-Ireland Saler bull calf class born after 1st of January 2022 was won by John Burke with his Montesqieu (SA6253) sired bull calf.
The Simmental heifer class born between 1st of December 2020 and 31st of July 2021 was won by Gerry Neenan with his Curaheen Gunshot (SI4147) sired heifer.
The Shorthorn heifer calf class born after 1st of January 2022 was won by Noel & Lisa Dowd with their Creaga Java (JZJ) sired heifer calf.
The dairy section also witnessed some impressive feats with Dovea Genetics progeny.
The pedigree Holstein Friesian heifer born in 2022 class was won by Aisling Neville with her Youri (FR5722) sired heifer calf.
Kevin Flynn’s Guarini (GZG) daughter also won the highest EBI animal and the registered pedigree Holstein Friesian cow calved twice or more classes.
