Information about our use of cookies

Like many websites, www.doveagenetics.ie (the “Website”) uses "cookies" to enable us to personalise your visits to the Website, keep track of your preferences and to track the usage of the Website.

What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that are used to store or retrieve information so that certain functions can perform. Cookies are used by many websites to do a number of things (e.g. remember your visits to a website; your preferences on that website; and counting the number of people visiting a website).

There are two main categories of cookies – “persistent” cookies and “session” cookies.

A session cookie, will only last as long as the user session lasts, so will be deleted once the web browser is closed. A persistent cookie, however, will continue to be stored by the browser even after the user session ends. Generally it will be stored until it reaches its set expiry date or unless deleted by the user before that date.

Cookies do not always contain information that personally identifies a user, but personal information that we store about you may be linked to the information stored in and obtained from cookies. When cookies can identify an individual via their device, they are considered personal data.

More information about cookies can be found at: www.allaboutcookies.org

What types or cookies we use

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Essential Cookies. These are cookies that are required for the operation of the Website. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of the Website, use a shopping cart or make use of e-billing services.

  • Analytical/Performance cookies. They allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around the Website when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way the Website works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily.

  • Functionality cookies. These are used to recognise you when you return to our website. This enables us to personalise our content for you, greet you by name and remember your preferences (for example, your choice of language or region).

  • Targeting/ Advertising cookies. These cookies record your visit to the Website, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed. We will use this information to make the Website and the advertising displayed on it more relevant to your interests. We may also share this information with third parties for this purpose.

You can find more information about the individual cookies we use and the purposes for which we use them in the table below:

Third Party Cookies

We also use third party advertisements to support the Website. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on the Website, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program) information including your IP address, your ISP, the browser you used to visit the Website, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for retargeting purposes (showing Ireland property adverts to someone in Ireland, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites).
